Upper 5th Road Trip!

What have we been up to i hear you cry?!.... We've been road trippin' honey! We recently ventured up north to visit a lovely little factory in Leicester which makes our clothing.. Megan got very carried away with all the rolls of fabric (totally understandable!) and decided to take the maxi dress trend (which is continuing into a/w) to a whole new level!

We had a totally amazing, photoshoot the other day with the very lovely RUTH ROSE this week, and we all have to admit, it was the most fun we have ever had! Ruth is absolutely amazing with a camera, and can do things with photos we haven't dreamed of before! WE ARE HOOKED. TOTALLY HOOKED. But not in the fishing sense - hooked on watching Madmen on BBC4 that is! It's not only the sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat, gasping with shock, gripping storylines - it's the outfits that have won us over! Full dresses, lipstick, structured bags, heels.... femininity has never been so hot right now!























So on one of our pleasant trips to Portobello Road, we found the ultimate Betty Draper dress that blew my mind:

Since Yo Gabba Gabba started in 2007, we have been mesmerised by the bright colours, funky music and general uplifting mood of the show (and of course DJ Lance Rock - what a hottie!) So the fact that they have collaborated with Vans shoes means the future for our feet are looking very happy!

Well well well, who have we got here? Meet the family (from Left to Right) :

We have Lisa, our resident blond-haired, bow-tastic superstar with a rainbow in her heart (and one on her cardigan!)
Pandora, who makes all the boys fall to their knees with her jaw dropping good looks and 7ft long legs.
Tina Top Knot aka Barbie, who recently lost her top knot in a fashion tug of war. She's shorter than the rest of us, but when it comes to style, she is light years ahead!
Then we have Lou Lou, our token grunger. We caught her in the middle of a Nirvana head-banging session to take this picture!

London Calling in New! this week..

Check out our cream winter woolly Jumper featured in New! magazine this week - seeing as we do live in Britain, winter is now officially here until Easter next year (oh the joyful weather of this Island never cease to amaze us) HOWEVER - we refuse to sit in doom and gloom to match the weather, ohh no! Winter is the perfect excuse to throw on some chunky knitwear, make a hot chocolate, dive under the duvet and have a movie-a-thon.. now, can someone pass me the highlights, i'm dying for a cuppa..

I'm guessing that you have guessed that at upper 5th we LOVE LOVE LOVE bows............. we are bow crazy. Arguably the bow-wearing- girl that has inspired us most is Minnie mouse. Yep, Mickey's squeeze. We are talking vintage Minnie, the real deal. When I discovered a stall adorned with Minnie's at Detling antiques fair last weekend i nearly wet myself with excitement.... but instead i composed myself and chose the best ones to come home and live with me. ENJOY x x

Notting Hill Carnival '10

Don't be sad, it's carn-i-val!

Louise here, with a bright and colourful blog to boost your spirits and illuminate your sepia Sunday! SO, last weekend was bank holiday, and an extra special one at that - Notting Hill Carnival of course! I set off to experience everything the weekend had to offer (me naturally being attracted to West London, loud music, dancing and eating too much this ticked all of my funfunfun boxes!) and i was not let down!

(This man was certainly my favourite of the whole day - i mean, imagine dancing in that costume? Corr Blimey!)



The costumes were outstanding - big, bright, and oh so beautiful! (Definately getting ideas for Upper 5th.. if you see any new items with feathers and gems on them, you know where the inspiration has come from!) And everybody there was so lovely. Looking forward to next year, i may even make my own glitter-tastic, feather-filled costume! Now, where did i put my sequins..
